SANTA CLARA: Piyush Gupta founded Exeros Inc. received a funding of $12 million in Series B of its private equity financing, the company announced on Wednesday. Alliance Bernstein Holding L.P. (NYSE: AB) leads this round of funding of the ‘data mapping and automated data relationship discovery software’ firm, with original investors Bay Partners and Globespan Capital Partners also participating in the process. Exeros now has a product that solves a 40-year old problem, and is already in production at some of the largest companies in the world, pointed out Jamie Kiggen, senior vice president, AllianceBernstein L.P. “Exeros has an experienced management team, is pursuing a large market opportunity,” he said. The investment will be used to upscale the sales team and add newer geographies to its coverage, apart from upgrading the engineering team in order to extend the product line. “Large companies need to understand how data relates across the enterprise before they can ensure data consistency or improve security,” said Piyush Gupta, co-founder and CEO, Exeros. He stated that data governance encompasses people, processes and procedures and is an issue of growing importance. “Exeros addresses this serious issue by discovering the relationships between datasets. Understanding where data is and the relationships between systems is the foundation for strong data governance initiatives,” he added. Data governance seeks to increase data consistency, improve security, enhance confidence in decision-making, and reduce the risk of regulatory fines. Exeros’ preliminary product, the DataMapper, in addition to providing a foundation for data governance, can be used in large data integration projects. The company’s customers still use DataMapper to discover sensitive data and create an enterprise data map for varying corporate governance, security and privacy initiatives.
