People in Bangalore most willing to pay bribe

Bangalore: Corruption is the single biggest roadblock to development, way above poverty, population, illiteracy, terrorism. While all of us condemn this, it now appears more Bangaloreans are ready to pay bribes than their counterparts in Delhi or Mumbai.
A Tata Tea-commissioned study by AC Nielson across three cities -- New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore -- found that corruption was the most significant challenge for the country. When 1,226 respondents were asked a whopping 46 percent said they wouldn't mind paying a bribe to get work done faster, while Bangalore topped with 53 percent ready to pay. When questioned if they'd paid a bribe in the past month, seven percent said they had and Bangaloreans topped with 11 percent.

Sangeeta Talwar, executive director, Tata Tea, said the Corruption Index will be generated on a quarterly basis to get a more broadbased understanding of the issue. Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde said, "We're at 74th position in the list of corrupt nations according to a study by Transparency International. It's also been reported that Indians have stashed away a mind-boggling $1,456 billion in Swiss banks. If we use just the interest of that sum, we can pay off all foreign debt."
A 38-day bus journey campaign across the country will urge the youth to take a pledge against corruption. The campaign, which will travel through 12 major cities, took off on the eve of Anti-Corruption Day.
Witnessing the corruption menace Justice Hegde said, "From the Lokayukta's office, we're trying to create some awareness among the youth. I've visited 127 educational institutions in the past three years and talked to the youth about corruption."
The survey results are given below.
Would you pay a bribe to get work done?
Bangalore 53
Mumbai 43
Delhi 41
Have you paid a bribe in the past one month?
Bangalore 11
Delhi 6
Mumbai 5

4: More than 300 employees of IT field in
Bangalore are drawing more than one lakhe
salary per month and mostly they are
investing in land ,buildins and shares .The
cost of real estates price escalation once
due to IT field. Those IT employees and
corporates wants to complete their work in
time to save time .So they dont mind in
bribing to avoid delay .Still 60 percent of
Indian population are uneduacted innocent and
igorant They dont know about
rules, proceedures and laws.Every day to day
transactions they have to approach consultant
.Central and state government has to simply
rules and proceddures in local language and
create awareness to eliminate corruption in
India. Now this awreness is created by CBI
in mobile phones .

5: In the last 20 years of my observation, the
persons who had gathered money in the public
services have all become great businesss
leader and many of them even had stakes in
educatin incuding Medicine and Engineering.
Most of them have sent their children to UK,
US and Australia. So telling anyone to be not
corrupt is only for the birdbrained. If
anyone believes such words, they are as silly
as Gandhi's followers, who revered him as he
went on frolicking with girls in his ashram
till his very end.
As to why the Bangalorean's pay bribes is another side of the Indian story. My own sister who earns a fabulous salary as a professor in a National elite engineering college thinks it smart to pay bribes. Otherwise, she will be forced to stand in a que with the 'bloody' Indians, who she sincerely feels are untouchable dirt. She claims to be very efficient, for when she makes a phone call, various agents come bowing before her calling her 'Madam'. She gets her papers at the RTO office, Passport office, and many other Indian offices much faster than a 'bloody' Indian can get it.
As to the 'Madam' part, it was my understanding that 'Madam' as a suffix to a name was generally used to denote brotherl matrons. Using this as a term of respect really displays the quality of the 'respectable' persons in India.

6:You, Mr.Ved and your Sister who works in a
national elite Engineering College are more
dangerous than those terrorists who plan to
destroy our nation.
And pls refrain from using words like 'bloody Indians' in a public blog... such a person like you don't have any right to comment. First learn to be a human and respect others like how you would like to be respected.

7: I think you have not understood the quotation
mark. Possibly due to your lack of
understanding what was meant betweent the
lines. Currently for most government babus in
this nations, all the people here are
'bloody' and fools. Otherwise how does one
explain the huge salary for the government
babus, commuation of pension, 13 months salay
a year, all the respectful words for them,
and the low grade words for the common man
here. I think you belong to the government
babu, and must be enjoying the tremondous
'freedom' of this nation.
See the treatment a commoner gets in any govt office, including the police station, and compare with how the officialdom treats the bureaucrats. If you know what I am talking about, you will either agree with me, or at least shut up.

9: Its all due to the bad manual system, which
allows people to do manual transactions.
In private Banks almost every thing is computerised, so the corruption is less, where as in SBI still they follow the old traditional system (so that they can have extra money).
Better computerise all the Govt offices, which can atleast reduce the bribing to certain extent.
BSNL,SBI and Railways are the oldest companies of India still struggling to fight with private banks or operators. Its olny due to the corruption in that sectors.

10: Bangalore is the most corrupt city in India -
maybe because of surplus income by Software
employed people. Without bribe nothing moves
in Government office. It is a routine job for
Govt. officials to demand bribe from anyone
who enters their door. By the say why are
74th - still a long way to become number one
- lets get to the top at lightning speed.
Good luck for next generation.

small a sample to come to any conclusion
about corruption in any cities....

12: Believe it-it is going to be 100%
We can understand that bribing is a way to get things done by Indian citizens in Indian government offices. Likewise, getting bribe is a way of earning extra for Government employed Indians.
It is a business transaction for the exchange of a favor for money. It makes things easier and faster.
There is faster movement of activities when this bribing is followed. If it is refused, I don't know how far things will move. This is well adopted and practiced in a flawless manner.
It is by and for the Indians. It is by Civil Indians(citizens) and for the Official Indians(Government).
Indians, those who are not involved in this business are the minimum people or name them minority. You want them to fight against the power of the majority!
Minority joins the stream when ever finds it is difficult. The power makes them to bend and pay for the need. No one is above the natural law of corruption!

13: I would blame the "bribe givers" than the
"bribe takers" .. They take bribe only if it
is offered. If people resolve not to pay
bribe then we have hope.
"What you sow is what you reap" is a golden principle which is very much practical ... If I earn money through fradulent ways I can never enjoy it and its going to turn out to be my biggest threat. Why should anyone gather so much money by fradulent ways and stay unhappy (like the Satyams)? It's a little mind math that many don't get. I wish we get better and wipe off corruption in the coming days.

18: Bribe is being birth right now a days, as new
born now a days sees bribe in her virgin
visit, So bribe in bangalore , Mumbai and
Delhi, iam worried why Tata Tea missed out
chennai,
Its been very bad on tata tea, we should have recieved this award.
To stop bribe , only quick and best way is all process should get their financial transaction through authenticaed bank transfer(through mobile banking, internet banking , PAN card) all office should be performed ,outsource their backoffice.
SO the control over the deliverable by any top brass will get a beat.
Like , Japanese , use mobile(cell phone) link to bank , so that all transaction(even to a peny is tracked), so any misuse will alert.
