Chennai: The U.S.-based hotel management group, Parkside Hotels and Resorts, is hoping to have around 4,000 hotel rooms in different categories under its banner by 2013, said a senior official. "Parkside is planning to add around 30 hotels in India to its portfolio under the banner Parkside Zebra through either lease/management/revenue sharing or franchise module," said Himanshu Mehta, President and CEO of Parkside Zebra Hotels. He said talks are also on with a mid-sized hotel chain running 19 hotels in India for operating the chain under the Parkside Zebra brand. According to Mehta, the operations in Asia including India will be under the Parkside Zebra banner with brands like Parkside Zebra Inn (three star), Parkside Zebra Hotels (four/five star) Parkside Zebra Resorts, Parkside Zebra Suites and new brand Parkside Zebra Collection (boutique and heritage hotels). Mehta said the U.S. group plans to invest around $50 million in Asia and bulk of it will be in India by way of lease or management contract.
