Oracle declares 10g Release 2 availability

BANGALORE: Oracle today announced the general availability of Oracle Database 10g Release 2 in Asia Pacific and aimed to "continue its strong performance" on the database business in the region. “The new product release will provide customers a compelling advantage in terms of enhanced availability, manageability, performance and security features to achieve a higher quality of service. It will also help customers cut the cost and complexity of information management," according to an Oracle statement. The new release, it said, comes on the back of strong growth registered in Oracles database business. For Oracles fiscal year 2005, the company’s worldwide revenues from the database business grew 16 per ent. In Q4FY05 specifically, Database sales continued to grow, with impressive triple-digit quarter-on-quarter growth in countries such as Hong Kong and Thailand, the statement added.
