Bangalore: Indian online advertising is yet to tab the SMB market as only six percent of PC- owning Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) advertise online. The spending on online advertising by these SMBs, however, is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 27 percent, as per a report. The report published by AMI-Partners adds that SMBs will grow in the future as they slowly identify the advantage of the online medium to offer targetable and measurable metrics over other forms of media. "Presently, a typical SMB engaged in e-commerce derives over 4 percent of its annual revenues via online sales and expects online sales to grow by an additional 6 percent over the coming 12 months", says Swati Sasmal, Senior Manager, Research at AMI-Partners, India. SMBs in India however, are still largely dependent on the local vicinity market and hence they still rely on traditional media like telephone directories and newspapers to reach out to their customer base.
