No disinvestment plans for BSNL and MTNL

CHENNAI: The Centre at present has no plans for disinvestment of public sector telecom PSUs BSNL and MTNL as the two were performing well in the competitive telecom sector, Union Minister of state for Communications and IT, S Thirunavukkarasar said on Saturday.
"Both BSNL and MTNL are faring quite well in the highly competitive telecom scenario and no disinvestment plans are on the cards as of now", he said here while releasing the Chennai telephone directory-2002.
However, he said this did not amount to a long term guarantee of what would happen in the next 50 or 100 years.
