BANGALORE: Nipuna, the BPO subsidiary of Satyam Computers, is seeing some traction in customer base. Contrary to IT market watchers, who believe that it is struggling to get off the block, Nipuna said it has added couple of clients and is in advanced stage of discussion with more. Nipuna’s chief marketing officer and senior vice-president, Nagendra Venkaswamy, named Telcordia, the software provider for telecom service firms, Guardian Health care, ISN, an insurance marketing firm and Caterpillar, as existing customers. Telcordia’s call center in New Jersey, US, now being managed by Nipuna will soon be shifted to India, he said. From the present pilot status, the project will soon shift to full production, he added. Nipuna is adding to its headcount and wants to increase employee base from 250 to 3,000 in the next 6 months. Venkaswamy declined to comment on strong market talk that Nipuna was close to parting equity to a US-based private equity firm. Although Nipuna lacks the headstart that competitors such as Infosys, Wipro and MphasiS have, he said business potential is big. (Source: ET)
