NEW DELHI: NIIT Ltd., one of India's leading computer training and software development majors, Wednesday said it has entered into an agreement with Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to provide advanced training in IT. As part of the agreement, KSOU will provide lateral entry to the third semester of its B.Sc. IT program to NIIT students who have successfully completed a one-year diploma course, a NIIT statement said. "This gives NIIT students a clear competitive edge to emerge the real winners as, when they pass out they will have both a formal degree from KSOU as well as an NIIT qualification," said the statement. NIIT is the first Asian education and training organisation to feature among the IT industry research firm International Data Corp's top 15 global IT training market leaders. "NIIT, through its vast network of centres, has created a vast pool of skilled IT professionals. This tie-up with NIIT is a path breaking event in the history of this young open university," said KSOU vice-chancellor Rame Gowda. "Together with NIIT, KSOU will prepare crucial IT skilled manpower for the country," he added. NIIT chief operating officer P. Rajendran said: "Our partnership with Karnataka State Open University will help NIIT emerge as a single window education service provider to students".
