NASSCOM to organize Asia's largest ITES-BPO Strategy Summit in Bangalore

NEW DELHI: NASSCOM, India's apex body of software and services sector, will organize its annual ITES-BPO strategy summit in Bangalore on June 12-13,2003. The event, which will take place at the Le Meridian, is the largest ITES-BPO event in the Asian region for this sector. Arun Shourie, Honourable Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications and S.M. Krishna, Chief Minister Karnataka, have been invited to inaugurate the event. The two-day defining event for the ITES-BPO sector will comprehensively cover trends in the industry as well as issues faced by the industry. Some of the important discussion areas will include: Market Consolidation: Innovative Business Models, Moving up the Value Chain: Non-core to Core, Country Competitiveness, New Service Lines and what do customers want? Som Mittal, chairman, NASSCOM, said, "The growth in the Indian ITES-BPO industry is one of the fastest worldwide. Therefore, our annual event has gained interest from customers as well as ITES-BPO players globally, to come to India and understand trends in the industry as well as network with the customers. This is especially relevant considering that Indian third party players have recently started looking at diversifying their operations to other competitive countries." "The event is targeted to provide an opportunity for Indian players to interact with peers in other countries as well as share experiences with each other and gain learning's from global thought leaders in this industry. These should help this nascent but burgeoning industry to continue on its growth path," said Mittal. The event will focus not only industry trends but will provide an opportunity for industry players to sort out some of the issues facing the sector today. Experienced leaders in this industry will conduct focused workshops to address the problems faced by the sector which include Challenges of market access, Setting and adoption of Best Practices of the industry, Developing and managing a successful offshore outsourcing contract and an HR workshop to focus on the challenges in attracting, retaining and motivating the workforce. The event is attracting well known international speakers to the event from companies such as Xchanging, Exult, McKinsey & Co, and IBM etc. Further, a big focus for this strategy conference is country competitiveness for the ITES-BPO industry to provide an insight to Indian players on the strength of other competing countries with India.
