New Delhi: Motorola is launching its Certified Network Engineering Programme (MCNE), a two-week telecommunication certificate course this July. The program will be conducted in association with CMC Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, and Edutech lndia, according to The Economic Times. “With the telecom sector showing exponential growth in India, the industry will need another 3.5 million network engineers in the next five years. Not just that- there are a number of new wireless technologies besides CDMA and GSM that are coming up, such as Wimax and Wifi and telecom engineers currently have very little experience working with these technologies,” Clif Triplett, Corporate Vice President, Motorola told ET. According to Triplett, the course is expected to provide the mobile communication with a large pool of well-trained technologically capable work force by bridging the skill gap in this knowledge- intensive industry. The cities are selected based on the maximum number of technology institutions. Based on the success of the course, Motorola plans to launch it in China, the United States and Europe. “The course incorporates Motorola’s learning from across global markets, and is aimed at helping the industry lower the cost of selecting and retaining employees,” says Triplett.
