Fremont: Entrepreneurs are constantly on the lookout for opportunities, which are profitable. With about 6.7 million jobs lost since the last recession, it is a great idea to start your own business. But many people do a lousy job of picking businesses which they can turn into a profitable operation. Here is a list of some promising startup opportunities.
Cloud Computing
It refers to the delivery of computing as a service, rather than a product. The shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility, over a network. The main advantage of using cloud computing is that instead of buying new computers, companies can rent space on a cloud provider's computer and use the savings as operational expenditure.
According to a market research by Forrester Research, the global cloud market is expected to grow from $40.7 Billion to $240 billion by 2020. Few companies to look out for are Amazon (one of the true innovators in Web-based computing), AT&T, Enomaly and Google.
The users of Google's cloud-computing include a lot of small businesses, enterprises and colleges including Arizona State University and Northwestern University. Enomaly's users include Business Objects, France Telecom, NBC, the Canadian government, Deutsche Bank, Best Buy, and several universities. Amazon's prominent clientele includes New York Times, Washington Post, and Eli Lily. AT&T's (Synaptic) clientele includes many Web properties such as the official Web site of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
