Mobile to Outrun TV in Advertisements by 2016

Bangalore: The phenomenal growth in the mobile market has set a pedestal for a boom in mobile advertisement by 2016, and smart phones will play a major role in the same.

According to Berg Insight, Sweden based analysts; digital advertisements in mobile are going to earn a new mileage in the upcoming years. The research says that one out of every seven ads will be on mobile by 2016. The total value will grow from the current $2.6 billion to $22.5 billion that is approximately 3.8 percentage of the total global ads on all medias and 15.2 percentage of the total online ad market.

A similar research from Jupiter, has expected the number of consumers who will access the social networks through smart phones by 2016 to be 1.3 billion.

The mobile industry is currently using the possibilities of SMS marketing, branded applications and even to augmented reality. There still remains a vast area for exploitation in this field. Rickard Andersson, Telecom analyst of Berg insight says, "the mobile brands are now progressively embracing the mobile channel. Also the mobile ads and SMS campaigns are popular". Johar from Jumptap stressed on how "with a few number of ads per page, the users will be focused, moreover by using targeting and time relevancy to the ads, more people will be engaged on mobile"

Many major mobile OS providers like apple, Google, Microsoft are in fierce competition over establishing major shares in the mobile advertisement space. A latest report also states that facebook is also preparing to launch itself in mobile advertisement field. Several acquisitions and consolidations, in the mobile marketing industry will lead to the establishment of an ecosystem consisting of a few dominant advertising companies.
