Chennai: MindTree, a global IT and R&D Services company, has opened its own development center, MindTree Coromandel, in Chennai. MindTree Coromandel, named after the famous coastline of India, has been built by Ascendas Mahindra IT Park. Situated in the upcoming Mahindra World City SEZ in the city suburb, MindTree Coromandel has the capacity to accommodate 2,800 employees. The interiors of the center have been designed and executed by Chandavarkar and Thacker Architects. "It is a momentous occasion for MindTree and we are glad to further strengthen our commitment to Chennai. The city's rich talent pool, its growing infrastructure and good connectivity to Bangalore and the rest of the world made it easy for us to select it as the second city in India to set up a development center," said MindTree Chairman & Managing Director Ashok Soota. "As we begin the task of creating MindTree 2.0, MindTree Coromandel will play a critical role in our quest to be a billion dollar company." A unique feature of the campus is The Arboretum, where new MindTree employees joining from other organizations will be assimilated into the MindTree culture and provided unique learning opportunities. The History Wall will provide visitors a glimpse of MindTree's impressive growth over the past nine years. Celebration Wall is the collage of images that will depict the experiences of a MindTree Mind. MindTree Coromandel will also have its own Baby's Day Out, the place where mothers can bring their children to and work from. The center was inaugurated by U.S. Consul General in Chennai, David T. Hopper. Besides MindTree Coromandel, MindTree has three development centers in Bangalore and one in New Jersey in the U.S. The company has also acquired land in Bhubaneswar to set up a development center.
