Silicon Valley: Microsoft signed a pact with Japan's Fujitsu to offer new cloud computing services. The deal was announced at the Worldwide Partner Conference held by the software giant in Washington. As per the agreement, Fujitsu will organize for Microsoft's Windows Azure platform appliance to the Japanese electronics maker's datacenters in and outside Japan. It will, at first, be launched this year end at the Tatabayashi Gunma Prefecture datacenter, located north of Tokyo. Fujitsu has plans to run its own applications on the Windows Azure platform, said Microsoft. It also will train 5,000 consultants and developers for supporting clients in developing and integrating applications on the Windows Azure platform, with help from Microsoft. The conference also witnessed Microsoft's tie-ups on cloud computing with Hewlett-Packard, Dell and online auction site eBay. These tie-up deals will boost Microsoft's stand in competing with rivals such as Google in the growth field.
