Bangalore: Microland, India based IT infrastructure management outsourcing services provider, has announced the launch of its Global Tech Support Centre in Bangalore on Monday. Inaugurated by Rameshwar Thakur, the Governer of Karnataka, the centre will house 750 personnel supporting global customers across 13 countries. The new facility will process over 4 million transactions a year. Located at Ecospace on Outer Ring Road in the city, the new centre has been built using telecom technology from Avaya and Nortel. Integrating voice, e-mail and chat support, the new centre integrates tech support with IT infrastructure management services (IMS) capability, said a release. “Indian companies continually aim at moving up the value chain to command higher margins. Our move to launch a separate Global Tech Support Centre integrated with IMS is to increase our capabilities in providing high-end services to meet the demands of our global customers. Tech Support and Infrastructure Management outsourcing are growing at a faster pace than traditional software development and business process outsourcing,” said Pradeep Kar, Chairman and Managing Director, Microland, Earlier in the year, Microland had inaugurated its first Multi Network Operations Centre facility housing six network operation centres, six technology labs, one penetration testing centre and four data centres. The six network operations centres have allowed Microland to expand and utilize it for transition of customers’ remote operations. “To ensure 100 percent uptime, four levels of power redundancy have been installed. Biometric security for Data Centres and Network Operations Centres will ensure that customer data and operational integrity are at the highest levels,” the company said. Headquartered in Bangalore, with 2,000 professionals in the U.S., U.K., West Asia and India, Microland serves global customers. The company has identified remote infrastructure management services (RIMS) as one of the business lines for growth. In March, the company launched various initiatives to tap the fast growing RIMS segment. NASSCOM considers RIMS, a high potential segment that needs specialist skills, as the next wave of growth for the Indian IT industry. IMS is an untapped market opportunity of $110 billion that provides significant growth prospects for Indian IT services companies. NASSCOM estimates that IT services exports from the remote infrastructure outsourcing model market in India will grow to $7 billion by 2010.
