Markets in green again, Sensex gains 186 points

Mumbai: Indian equities markets made gains for the second consecutive day Thursday, with a key index ending trade over 186 points higher than its previous close. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 14,112.04 points, rose 186.37 points or 1.32 percent to close at 14,296.01 points. The Sensex had gained over 520 points Wednesday as the new Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, promised steps for a fresh round of economic and financial reforms in the upcoming budget. The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) followed the Sensex to end in the green, gaining 1.42 percent to close at 4,336.85 points. Broader market indices closed marginally higher, with the BSE midcap index ending trade 0.78 percent up, and the BSE smallcap index gaining 0.24 percent.
