SAN JOSE: Maranti Networks Inc, a network storage services controller, has made two promotions to its senior staff: James Kuenzel has been named president and chief operating officer and Prakash Rao has been named vice president of engineering. Prakash Rao was formerly director of engineering and has been with the company three years. Prior to Maranti, Rao served as director of software roles at both Tiara Networks and Electronics for Imaging Inc. Prior to EFI, Rao held various management roles at Novell Inc., including the director of network management division with teams in California, Utah, and India. Maranti's CoreSTOR system is an enterprise-class network storage controller, designed to reduce the total cost of ownership by delivering wire-speed virtualization, replication and mirroring at every multi-protocol port. In February, San Jose, Calif.-based Maranti announced that it closed a $26-million Series C round. To date, the company has raised $57 million from JPMorgan Partners, Menlo Ventures, Trinity Ventures, and Alliance Ventures.
