Bangalore: Putting the rumors mills into extra speed is the latest news that Windows Phone 7 is likely to get a major update sometime in fall next year, codenamed Mango, reports Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet. There have been rumors of minor updates coming up in January and February 2011 on the platform. The fall update of the Windows Phone 7 will precede Windows Phone 8 (codenamed Apollo) that is scheduled for a late 2012 release. The Mango update would be akin to a Windows Phone OS 7.5. In all certainity the January/February updates may be combined to one wherein Microsoft will deliver copy and paste to users. The second update will most likely initiate enhanced developer controls for applications, programming interface access thereby allowing greater multi-tasking, in-app downloads and better customization. Tipsters believe that Mango will incorporate Silverlight run-time and HTML 5 to Windows Phone 7. Other new features would include Far Eastern language support to the platform. Whether the Microsoft guys add more enterprise functionality to the platform needs to be seen, as the Windows Phone 7 is a consumer centric platform. However, at the end of the day, these all are mere speculations and the authenticity can be confirmed only when the time comes or if Microsoft plans to announce something from its end. Till then keep speculating!
