Jitendra Patel receives ASSE's highest honors

Fremont: Indian-American Jitendra Patel received the award during ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition - Safety 2011, in Chicago, as part of ASSE's 100th anniversary celebration. Patel was recognized for his outstanding service and dedication to the safety profession. The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently named Professional Member Emeritus Jitendra C. Patel, CPEA a Society Fellow. Patel is a Professional Member Emeritus and Senior Board Advisor of the Arizona Chapter of ASSE. He founded ASSE's first foreign chapter in 1982 in Saudi Arabia, building strong relationships with government and industry officials and communities. Patel is exploring possibilities to form sections, chapters and partnerships with local and national safety organizations for joint ventures with ASSE in Middle East (MEC) and Asian countries including India. Having an experience of more than 40 years in the safety, health and environmental field, Patel's professional activities are a evidence to his dedication to occupational safety. He gives technical and management seminars to Safety & Fire Prevention engineers and line management staff of major oil and gas, petro-chemical and chemical manufacturing corporations, graduate program students and faculty at universities and the community for public safety awareness. Patel is known as a 'Father of safety.'
