Mumbai: Months of speculation on Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mphasis, Jerry Rao’s ‘rumored’ departure from the company was put to rest with the announcement of his new role as Vice-President of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and General Manager of the EDS' operations in India effective November 1. Emerging from the July merger, wherein EDS acquired a majority ownership stake in Bangalore based IT services company Mphasis BFL, Rao will now be responsible for spearheading EDS' business efforts in India and become the Non-Executive Chairman of MphasiS. "Jerry brings with him invaluable global experience across diverse positions and will join our leadership team in shaping EDS' future strategy while continuing to provide leadership to Mphasis team," Chief Operating Officer of EDS Ron Rittenmeyer said. Rao replaces Stephen Heidt as the Chairman of MphasiS while Jeroen Tas, co-founder of MphasiS, has rejoined the MphasiS board and will continue to serve the company as its Vice-Chairman. Recently apponited Chief Operating Officer, Deepak Patel has joined the board and will become the new Managing Director of MphasiS BFL effective on November 1.
