Ittiam-Silicon Lab to develop SOC designs

BANGALORE: Ittiam Systems, India, on Wednesday announced a strategic relationship with Silicon Laboratories Inc to develop SOC (System On Chip) designs for the mixed-signal IC market. The partnership will combine Ittiam Systems' strong software and system expertise with Silicon Laboratories' leading mixed-signal design capability to enable continued innovation in wireline IC solutions. "We have identified Ittiam Systems as a key strategic partner for Silicon Laboratories for signal processing IP," said Dan Artusi, president and chief operating officer of Silicon Laboratories. "We believe this relationship will extend our competency in SOC designs for the wireline market." Silicon Laboratories is a global leader in mixed signal IC technology and has a track record of industry leading innovations for the wireless, wireline and optical markets. The company's diverse portfolio of highly-integrated, best-in-class products implemented in CMOS lowers the cost, power and number of components required while providing industry leading performance and functionality. Ittiam Systems is focused on signal processing for world-class DSP systems and IP in media processing and communications. Ittiam's capabilities include all aspects of DSP application development, including algorithm development, optimized software implementation and reference board design. The entire SOC chip design activity for communication applications will be done in the newly formed subsidiary of Ittiam Systems, Ittiam Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd.
