Iti of Global Logic believes Daredevils to be unbeatable
Iti Kumar, the AVP - People Development and Employee Services, GlobalLogic and an enthusiastic cricketer at heart, believes that the Daredevils will be a danger for every other team, with the Gambhir-Sehwag duo striking the record. 1. Which of the eight teams do you think will win the IPL 2 Series and why do you think so? I firmly believe that this time there will be no stopping for the Delhi Daredevils. With Gautam Gambhir in the kind of form he is and the support that he receives from a dangerous batsman like Virender Sehwag, I think it's going to be Delhi all the way. 2. Can you kindly narrate an anecdote or some interesting personal experience that highlights your association with cricket? {it could be your cricket experience during school/college days} During my school days I was the only girl in the colony who used to play cricket with the boys. I am a big cricket fan and haven't missed any of the cricket matches till date. Same is the case with all my family members. During world cup or the Sharjah cup we used to get Maggi to eat as my mother would refuse to cook meals. I still remember watching the direct telecast of the historical world cup win under Kapil's leadership and distributing sweets in the morning. 3. At the organizational level, do you think Cricket helps connect with people in informal way and cut-across teams/divisions? {You could talk about cricket teams in your own company} At an organizational level, I feel that indulging in any kind of group activities harbors team spirit which in turn enhances productivity. Cricket being a team game is extremely important as it dawns the realization amongst the players that no matter how good you may be as an individual but how well you come together to work as a cohesive unit is what ensures success. The relations that employees build on the field extend into the work arena as well and this is extremely favorable for us as an organization. GlobalLogic is an organization that realizes the importance of sports and recreation and encourages employees to participate actively in the same. It is a common sight to witness employees playing cricket, basketball, badminton, table tennis etc. We also organize cricket tournaments where each business unit is represented by a team. Globytes have been known for their passion for cricket which has been pretty evident at cricket matches where they have enthusiastically supported their national team. 4. Who is your favourite player and why do you admire him? Any management lessons you would like to draw and build an analogy? Like most Indians, I am also an ardent fan of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin is a living legend and it has been a pleasure to see his innings. For years at a stretch he has been a one man army and stands out from the rest. Despite the fact that he is literally worshipped in India, he has never let it go to his head. He has always been level headed and has remained very calm and composed throughout. His modesty is a very appeasing virtue. The lesson that I draw from him is that one must put the interest of the organization before his own. As a captain, Sachin was not very successful and he stepped down on his own for the interest of the team. I feel that as managers, we should also put the organization’s interest before our own. If at any juncture it feels that we are unable to lead as required, we should step aside and let someone else take the lead so as to ensure that the work doesn't suffer.
