Israel's Net security provider to set up shop in India

NEW DELHI: Israel's Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., one of the world's leading Web security solutions providers, has decided to start operations in India by the end of this year. The company, which currently sells products through select distributors in India, plans to corner a larger share of the growing Internet security market in India by setting up an office here, it said in a statement Thursday. Check Point has 62 percent market share globally in the security products and services. In the Indian Web security market, the company has also managed to establish its brand in the last few years. "India is a growing market for our products," said Kelvin Lim, regional manager (south Asia) of Check Point Software Technologies. "There is immense potential for Check Point products in this market which prompted us to open company's own office to penetrate deep into this country." Check Point offers a broad range of perimeter, Internal and Web security solutions that protect business communications and resources for corporate networks and applications, remote employees, branches and partner extranets. The $400-million company has its own manufacturing facility in Israel with over 600 engineers deployed in research and development department. The company products are sold and serviced by a network of over 2,300 of its partners in 92 countries. Currently, Check Point has arrangement with three companies for distribution of its products in India.
