Bangalore: Is Mark Zuckerberg offering a friend request to Robert Gibbs? According to the latest media buzz, Facebook is in talks to hire Robert Gibbs, President Obama's former White House Press Secretary, offering him a senior role in overseeing the company's communications. Quoting people close to the negation, The New York Times said the talks are still at an early stage and no formal offer has been made. However, the article did not rule out a possible collapse of the discussions. Facebook is reportedly pushing Gibbs to take a call quickly. Facebook is reaching out to Gibbs as it plans on initial public offering for early 2012, these people said. Although the compensation package is yet to be discussed, people close to the discussions noted that it would worth millions of dollars indicating that he would receive a cash salary as well as shares ahead of the initial offering. Robert Gibbs was the 28th White House Press Secretary and was the Communications Director for then U.S. Senator Barack Obama and Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. According to the report, Gibbs was planning to help establish President Obama's re-election campaign before taking a private sector job.
