HYDERABAD: Infotech Enterprises has opened a new development centre in Puerto Rico to provide engineering design services to one of its strategic partners, Pratt & Whitney. The facility, Infotech Aerospace Services, is a 100% subsidiary of Infotech Enterprises located at Mayaguez in Puerto Rico. Initially, the new facility will provide services in the areas of code verification, drafting, modelling, tool design and other support functions. Puerto Rico represents a significant opportunity for Infotech as it can take advantage of the cost-effective resource base of Puerto Rico to provide services to the North American defence-related industries. An Infotech press release on Monday adds that the Mayaguez facility will serve as a ‘near shore’ facility for North American customers. The centre will help Infotech serve its customers better by creating an alternative location for project execution, project delivery and will help Infotech further strengthen its business continuity plans. “Our primary focus here is to develop a highly competitive supplier for key technical and engineering services that we can leverage to differentiate our products in the market space,” said Pratt & Whitney’s chief engineer, Paul Adams. “Pratt & Whitney engineering is about designing and building great engines and we believe that working with Infotech and the people of Puerto Rico will help us achieve that goal,” he said. “There is a significant potential here in Puerto Rico and we are glad to be one of the first services companies that is tapping into resources here. This facility also helps ensure that we evolve into a global outsourcing partner with multiple delivery locations based on the unique requirements of our customers,” Infotech’s chairman, B V R Mohan Reddy, said.
