Informatica opens R&D lab in Bangalore

BANGALORE: Informatica Corporation, a provider of data integration and business analytics software, on Monday announced the opening of its India Research and Development Lab in Bangalore. Informatica is headquartered in Redwood City, California. The India R&D Lab will staff up to 60 people in the first year. Gaurav Dhillon, president and CEO of Informatica, said, "This development centre is of strategic importance to our global operations. We will be developing critical components at this facility that further enhance our entire suite of integration and analytics software." He further added, "The much sought after Indian software talent will help us serve our customers even better, expanding the breadth of our capabilities by growing our existing product line with the changing needs of the industry." The India R&D Lab will focus on research and development across Informatica's entire family of software products for data integration, data warehousing and business intelligence. By expanding its software development operation into India, Informatica will ensure that its customers have access to high-quality software-development resources, no matter where their customers are located. The new development centre will be headed by Informatica veteran Mohan Sankaran, who will serve as its managing director. Commenting on the opening of the India R&D Lab, Mohan Sankaran said, "Informatica is known for fostering a corporate culture in Silicon Valley that helped propel the company to become the market leader it is today. Informatica's India R&D Lab will have a team of engineers supporting the efforts of these systems integrators as they leverage Informatica's "location transparent" product architecture to deliver powerful analytic solutions to their customers.
