India's oil product consumption rises 10.1% in August

NEW DELHI: India's oil and allied product consumption rose a massive 10.1 percent in August to 7.5 million tons on back of increased demand for petrol and diesel. Petrol consumption increased by 16 percent to 0.72 million tons while demand for diesel rose 17 percent to 2.9 million tons. Aviation turbine fuel consumption increased by 17 percent to 0.26 million tons in August. However LPG and kerosene showed only marginal increase in demand. LPG demand was up from 0.75 million tons in August 2004 to 0.75 million tons this fiscal and kerosene from 0.8 million tons last year to 0.9 million tons in August 2005. Naphtha demand fell 17 percent, the official said.
