Indians 10th most intense net searchers in Asia Pacific

New Delhi: Clicking on the search button is what makes India rank 10th among the most intense internet searchers in Asia Pacific. Tracked by an internet traffic tracking firm comScore, India stands with a score of 51 searches per searcher, which is far behind those of Korea, Australia, Japan whose figures surge above 100. Tracking the search intensity, the firm said, "Searchers in Korea exhibited the heaviest search intensity with an average of 102.8 searches per searcher during the month, followed by Australia (102 searches per searcher) and Japan (100.8 searches per searcher)." Apart from these countries the list figures Singapore with 91.2 searches, New Zealand with 87.2 searches and Hong Kong with 81 searches. China stands at the seventh with an intensity of 76.6 searches per searcher and following it are Taiwan (74.8 searches) and Malaysia (64.2 searches). Infact, India's rate of hitting the search button is lower than the overall average which stands at 80.7 percent for Asia Pacific region. The figures compiled takes into account the all unique internet users aged 15 and above from their home and work computers, and excludes searches from searches from public computers such as Internet cafes or access from mobile phones or PDAs. So, there are chances of increase in the figures if the public computers are taken into account too. But in terms of relevant searching on the internet and in terms of the number of people searching something on the net, India is better placed. Considering total number of unique searchers, India ranks third, with 23.4 million searchers, after China who has 143.5 million searchers and Japan. As far as the number of searches made by its searchers are concerned the country ranks fourth with 1.2 billion searches. Considering the popularity of the sites it's Google which remains to be the most preferred one with 33.5 percent amounting to more than 27 billion searches being conducted in it. Following Google are Baidu.com and Yahoo.
