New Delhi: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has shown the most rapid uptake until now. As a result, SaaS is likely to reach $650 million by 2015, while Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) markets cumulatively would touch $434 million each by then. A study on the Indian Cloud Computing market by Zinnov Management consulting found that several multinational and Indian companies are entering the cloud space and the SaaS has a domestic market estimated to be about $66 million. SaaS is dominated by Collaborative Applications, CRM, ERP & Email workloads. Several Indian companies are beginning to offer PaaS and IaaS to leverage the untapped market potential. The Chief Executive Officer of Zinnov Management Consulting, Pari Natarajan termed Cloud Computing as 'the next wave of transformation in the Indian IT industry.' He said cloud computing will be destructive only to companies who are not willing to change, while it is a huge opportunity for others. This has allowed smaller ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to be based on cloud platforms (such as Azure, App Engine and others) and make themselves available to global customers, thereby, significantly reducing their cost of sales. "Cloud computing has increased the flexibility for end customers and increased the choice of products and services," he added. Praveen Bhadada, Engagement Manager, Zinnov Management Consulting pointed out that factors such as the solid growth in IT spending in India, world's fastest growing mobile market with over 20 million subscribers added every month, large amount of investments for 3G services etc suggest that Indian customers are ideal for cloud offerings. He says 'Cloud Computing' is the answer for the many problems that Indian SMBs face such as lack of budgets, less business improvement and lack of management bandwidth. Telecom, IT-BPO and BFSI has shown higher potential towards cloud computing and it suggested that cloud computing can bring in global standards in Education, Healthcare and Government institutions.
