Bangalore: Business Intelligence (BI) revenues in India have seen a growth of $16.4 million in 2006 from $12.1 million in past couple of years. However, reports say that the Indian BI market is less than four percent of the total Asia Pacific (including Japan) market. BI platforms provide the infrastructure and tools to enable users to build applications that facilitate decision making and help organizations learn, understand and improve their business. There are vendors like Oracle, Hyperion, and Microsoft that provide integrated BI solution with their specific tools. A lot of acquisitions and mergers are taking place in the BI Industry. Oracle overlaps its BI products with Hyperion. There is also overlap between the various BI products, e.g. there are several different relational reporting tools, and several OLAP servers. Recently, Gartner's Asia Pacific software revenue estimated that Microsoft India has a growth rate of 40.5 percent, the Business Intelligence software revenues in India were $19.4 million during 2006-2007. As per the Gartner study, Microsoft is at the top in the overall APAC Business Intelligence (BI) platform market for a second consecutive year. The study shows that in APAC, Microsoft has maintained its last year's position as the market leader with a current 20.13 percent market share, growing by 25.5 percent to reach software revenues worth $68.4 million in the Asia Pacific BI market.
