Indian American Yogesh Vohra Awarded NIH Phase II Grant

Fremont: Indian American Yogesh K Vohra has been awarded a Phase II grant by the National Institutes of Health. Vohra is a professor and University Scholar in UAB's College of Arts and Sciences, and Vista Engineering, and is being awarded for their work on a temporomandibular joint prosthesis. The TMJ device under development has nano-diamond coated metal components and can be implanted with a single incision. A jaw simulator is being developed by the UAB Department of Physics for this grant. The simulator is designed to test a 10-year life cycle for the TMJ prosthesis. Vohra is also working with Patrick J. Louis, director of the advanced educational program in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in UAB's School of Dentistry and Aaron Catledge, an assistant professor in the UAB Department of Physics.
