NEW DELHI: India will export 11 air-conditioned rail coaches to Malaysia for $790,174 in the first such export order for the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in eight years, an official statement said Friday. A production unit of Indian Railways, the Chennai-based ICF has so far exported 425 coaches to several countries including Thailand, Mayanmar, Taiwan, Zambia, the Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Mozambique. The unit was established in 1952 to manufacture all-steel railway coaches of monocoque design. The product mix was extended later to include self-propelled railway vehicles and electric multiple unit (EMU) train sets. The factory produces some 1,000 fully finished coaches every year.
