New Delhi: The economy is well poised and growth rate of nine percent is sustainable, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said here Friday. "We can sustain nine percent rate of growth. I don't like to look at six or seven percent. They are numbers of the past. However, there may be some turbulences but we must aim at nine percent," the minister said at an event here. He also denied speculations that there has been a slowdown in foreign investments coming to India. "Investors have a long-term view of India and I don't think their decisions are based on any speculation. I think and I know that investors view India as an attractive destination to invest and that India is a safe place," the minister said. Adding that the government is on the right track in terms of reforms and growth, Chidambaram said: "I don't see any reason to change course. On the contrary, there is every reason to stay on course."
