BANGALORE: Futureschools Foundation India, a provider of education technology solutions for k-12 schools has partnered with International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to launch a new body-ISTE India Foundation that will spark a new revolution in technology education at the school level. The new body would provide leadership and services to improve teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in education and teacher education. The Karnataka Chapter of the ISTE India would be formally incepted at a colloquium to be held on December 3,2004 on the theme – “Sparking the new learning revolution”. The half-day colloquium would have expert presentations and a unique, interactive discussion between visiting experts and leading educationists of the city. The ISTE India foundation also announced that it is extending an open invitation to renowned educationists in the state to be part of the local governing council and also the governing body at the national level. Addressing the media, Dr Don Knezek, Chief Executive, ISTE, said, “This is the first time in the history of ISTE that we are stepping out of the US and we are quite happy that it is India which is fast emerging as a technology super power and a land renowned for its abundant worldclass technical talent. For India to march forward, we believe that fundamental changes in the way technology is taught or learnt at the school level is imperative for it to retain its competitive edge. Another reason for us to come to India has been Futureschools Foundation with whom we found common ground and goals to share. I wish ISTE India foundation all success in its endeavors. Through this partnership and the new body, we believe that we are positioned well to spark the revolution we are talking about. “Talking of the new foundation and its plans, Annamalai Muthiah, Chairman, FutureSchools Foundation, said “Through FutureSchools we were seeking to make education more contemporary and infusing technology into education for it to be transformed. The partnership with ISTE and what we intend to do with the new initiative provides us the right platform to take that objective forward to a higher level.
