BANGALORE: After the visit of Cisco chief, John Chambers, hardly two weeks ago, now it's the turn of IBMÂ’s Chairman and CEO, Samuel J Palmisano to visit the country, quietly. This is Palmisano's third India visit since May 2003. The company chief began his four-day visit from Bangalore. He is also going to New Delhi to meet senior government officials, key clients and address IBM India employees, an IBM official said. During his Bangalore visit Palmisano shared his vision for the hardware and the software sectors. He also shared his thoughts on the future plans for key markets, among which India and China rank high. The company official said Palmisano's India visit was in line with IBM's continued focus, on strategic emerging growth countries such as India, China, Russia and Brazil, as a way to drive revenue growth and market share gain and as an important talent base for its growing service delivery business and research and development initiatives. For IBM, India is an important part of its globally integrated company model and is also a center of excellence in a number of areas. These include business process outsourcing, delivery services, and research and software development among others.
