NEW DELHI: Irvine, California based Hop-on Wireless Inc. Tuesday said it will launch dual band mobile phones priced at 1700 ($36) mobile phones in India soon. The phones will be available in quantities of 10000 units. Hop-on is the first company to announce the launch of cheaper phones after Motorola announced its decision to launch cheaper mobile phones targeted at growing markets like India at the recently held GSM Conference in Cannes, France. India is the world’s fastest growing wireless market after China and despite lower tariffs, prohibitive costs of mobile phones have kept beyond the reach of common man. Dan Gannon, Chief Executive Officer of Hop-on said, "With this price point of only $ 36 for our Model, we believe this is the least expensive GSM phone in the market and we look forward to working with our Business Channel Partners in India to capitalize on this market opportunity."
