Hindustan Construction bags 27-Billion hydel project contract

Mumbai: Infrastructure major Hindustan Construction (HCC) has bagged a 27.26-billion (2,726-crore) contract to build a 330-MW hydel power plant in Jammu and Kashmir, a top official said Friday. "We have successfully constructed over 23 percent of India's hydel power generation capacity in the past, which included several challenging power plants in the Himalayan region," said HCC president and chief operating officer Vinayak Deshpande. The contract was awarded by National Hydroelectric Power (NHPC). The project is located on river Kishanganga in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
