BANGALORE: In the largest deal in the Medical Transcription arena, Spheris, the U.S. based world’s second largest Medical Transcription company has acquired India’s biggest MT company Healthscribe in an all cash deal. The deal, which experts estimated at $30 million, will give significant offshore business to Healthscribe, which will be more than all competitors in India. In another move, Spheris has started an MT center in Coimbatore, a first in a non-metro city in the country. After acquiring Healthscribe, Spheris announced its intention to increase its headcount in the country to 3000 from the current 2000. Spheris Inc. President Steven E. Simpson said, “ After an extensive research on potential in India, we have acquired Healthscribe. We find the enormous potential in this country and so are expanding here and in other cities.”
