Bangalore: Cloud computing has bought a revolution in the IT world and most of the IT managers have taken the plunge of having cloud in their organization. Cloud computing has its own pros and cons and though the healthcare IT managers are aware of the benefits that cloud computing brings along but it seems like they are in no hurry to implement cloud.

The reason why the Healthcare CIOs are giving it a second thought is because of the security and privacy issues related to cloud eventually leading CIOs delay plans of moving their critical and confidential patient data onto cloud based systems, according to a recent KLAS study.

Nicole Lewis’ article published in information week speaks about a recently published study -Path to Cloud Computing Foggy: Perception Study conducted a survey wherein 97 Healthcare CIOs were interviewed including other executives out of which 58 percent of respondents are still considering using cloud whereas only 38 percent of them told that they have strong plans and are interested to implement cloud technology.

Healthcare CIOs today are more worried about the management of data that is increasing rapidly because companies these days have moved to maintaining digital medical records and there is growth in digitized medical images as well, in such scenario with a meager budget and limited resources healthcare organizations are considering cloud computing option to reduce cost and manage data but what’s bothering the CIOs is the fact the Cloud is not completely secure moving sensitive patient date onto unsecure cloud computing systems would be a risk.
