Haryana makes giant leap in IT sector

CHANDIGAR: The Haryana Government has introduced Information Technology Plans involving Rs 50 crore for its 34 departments, Boards and Corporations. Governor Babu Parmanand, at the Budget Session of State assembly, said the Government will emerge as a leading State in IT sector, saying that the new IT Policy introduced by the Government had increased the exports to Rs 8000 crore. A Cyber City, cyber park, Medi City and bio-tech parks were being developed in the private sector, he said. The Cyber City being set up at Gurgaon would provide world class infrastructure. Gurgaon was now ranked third among the country's major software export locations, he said. As many as 126 primary schools had been upgraded to middle schools, 69 middle schools to high schools and 106 high schools to senior secondary schools during the current financial year, he said, adding that efforts were being made to bring all children in the age group of six to 11 in the schools to achieve the target of universalization of primary education. While a total literacy campaign was being implemented in the entire State, 'Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan' had been implemented in 16 districts and remaining three districts would be covered during next financial year, he said. He said that the Regional College of Engineering, Kurukshetra had been given the status of a deemed University by upgrading it into National Institute of Technology.
