Haryana agro-body earns Rs 2.69 B profit

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) earned a profit of 2.69 billion on a turnover of 351.19 billion during the financial year ended March. A HAFED spokesman said Tuesday it had procured 1.8 million tonnes of wheat and 556,000 tonnes of paddy that had been delivered to Food Corporation of India (FCI) The spokesman said the service package of HAFED included supply of quality agricultural inputs, adequate marketing support by being an assured and dependable buyer for farmers' produce and looking after their needs at all levels. He said the value addition to farm produce was being enhanced by its processing through a large and diversified chain of agro-based processing units owned and operated by HAFED all over the state. HAFED has constructed storehouses with a capacity of 333,866 tonnes, he said.
