H-P sees 2-fold rise in Indian revenues

NEW DELHI: Hewlett Packard Services, the information technology services arm of the global infotech major H-P, said on Thursday that the revenues from the company’s operations in India would double in the next4 years. The company is hoping three-time growth for its operating profits from the Indian operations in the same time frame. Chon Phung Lim, vice-president, H-P Services, Asia Pacific, “We chalked out a four-pronged strategy post the merger of H-P and Compaq to achieve these targets. We will emerge as the top infotech services organization in the Indian market.” “We do not have a big appetite for another acquisition at the moment as we are integrating both Compaq and H-P. We will look at acquiring an company in around two-three years later,” he was quoted as saying by a business daily. The company has already bagged deals worth $7 million for offering integrated services to two Indian companies. “We have won a $2 million contract from Ashok Leyland for providing managed services, while the $5 million order from Tata Steel is to develop and deploy complex solutions and deliver outsourcing services to manage their multi-vendor environments,” said Kapil Jain, vice-president, H-P Services. H-P Services’ employee strength in services alone is 450, while if the resource of Digital Globalsoft and software enterprise solutions group — H-P ISO — are taken into account who also work together with services, the strength would be over 1,000. “There are 48 consultants within the 450 services professionals,” Jain said. The services that H-P Services would offer include mission critical infrastructure services, multi-technology services, facility management services and systems integration services.
