HP launched the new 'Z' Series workstations
Bangalore: HP India has launched three new workstations - HP Z800, HP Z600 and HP Z400, featuring the revolutionary Intel Xeon processor 5500 series, along with the in-built facility to check the power supply. The workstations boast of a performance up to 300 to 500 percent of the customer's engineering applications. The workstations include 85 percent efficient power supplies, which will reduce both overall energy usage and the amount of the waste heat released. Integrated memory controllers and Intel Turbo Boost Technology are present in the workstations, which also have professional graphics solutions, built-in high-definition (HD) audio and an option for solid-state drives. Accurate response can be derived from all the hardware and software inventory capabilities in these workstations. HP claims that keeping the ecological aspect in the mind, the Z Series workstations include a new HP-exclusive Wattsaver feature that will manage to put the power in the "off" state at less than one watt. "The new Z Workstations series is the newest addition, which facilitates easy serviceability at the fingertip, from the power supply to the motherboard," said Anurag Gupta, Country Manager - Workstations, Personal Systems Group, HP India. HP claims that the workstations are of new industrial designs, which includes the facilities like brushed aluminum side panels, tool-less access chassis, integrated handles, and visually cable-less engineering, creating new standards for ease of service, lowered acoustics, and energy efficiency. The potential competitors for HP in this market are Lenovo and Dell, who have also launched their workstations powered by the Intel Xeon processor 5500. The HP Z800 Workstation is an expandable workstation meant for users working with applications such as 3-D animation, broadcast video, oil and gas discovery, and medical imaging.
