HP connects with Indian Linux community

BANGALORE: HP today reaffirmed its position in the Linux space at Linux Bangalore/2004, by showcasing its strategy for the Open Source community in India. HP is the Platinum Sponsor at Linux Bangalore/2004. HP is advancing with the most comprehensive Linux and Open Source strategy in the industry, covering its systems, software, services and peripherals business units. The company's Linux Strategy focuses on open systems, open standard and low cost industry-standard platforms. The baseline element for HP's "Linux for the Real World" strategy is on industry standard open platforms. The next key element of the strategy is the ability to deploy with confidence. The third element is a focus on end-to-end solutions. The last pillar of the strategy that HP has in order to deliver a real-world solution for Linux is around freedom and flexibility and the best return on investment. HP possesses the necessary relationships with the key Open Source software stack vendors, and is focused on delivering the maximum ROI through an emphasis on industry-standard platforms. "HP has already contributed and will continue to contribute key technologies to the Open Source community. We have had great success worldwide in the Open Source arena. We contribute and also give developers the opportunity to contribute back to the Open Source community," said Faisal M. HP formed the Open Source & Linux Operation (OSLO) to coordinate HP's company-wide Linux strategy "Linux for the Real World," and industry leaders from HP will utilize Linux Bangalore/2004 to communicate its Open Source initiative to the Linux community.
