Govt seeks Parliament nod for 45K Crore additional expense

Bangalore: The government sought approval from Parliament for gross additional expenditure of 44,945.52 crore during the current fiscal, of which fertilizers subsidy alone would account for 5,000 crore. The proposal involves net cash outgo of 19,812.37 crore. The government has sought extra subsidy of 1,000 crore on imported decontrolled fertilizers and 4,000 crore for indigenous decontrolled fertilizers. The supplementary demands for grants for 2010-11 were presented in Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee amidst din over demand of a joint parliamentary committee probe by opposition in the spectrum allocation issue. "Proposals involving net cash outgo will not result in any significant variation in deficient projected in budget estimates 2010-11," the paper placed in Parliament said. The additional expenditure required by Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution for payment of food subsidy was in excess of 5,000 crore. Other big expenditure heads include Ministry of Home Affairs 2,000 crore and Ministry of Rural Development 3,000 crore.
