San Francisco: Google, in a major overhaul, has shifted its TV unit to the YouTube division of the company. The move is seen as part of leveraging YouTube and realigning efforts related to content partnerships. A representative said, "Just like any rapidly growing organization, it is important for YouTube to evolve and grow in order to ensure future success." However few sources from the industry opine that this step could hint at troubles brewing at Google's TV endeavors. Many major studios, including ABC, NBC and CBS have blocked the Google TV from streaming TV content. In fact the respective Flash websites of these studios have more content available and that too for free. Ross Rubin, Executive Director, NPD Group said, "The idea is that on demand programming on the PC is complementary to a core cable TV offering. But bringing that content back onto the big screen makes it more directly competitive."
