Gates is the richest American, Zuckerberg surpasses Jobs

Bangalore: The list of 400 wealthiest Americans is now out and Bill Gates, Co-founder of Microsoft has topped the chart with assets estimated at $54 billion. Following the list is Warren Buffet, the CEO of Berkshire Hathway with estimated assets of $45 billion. According to annual ranking brought out by Forbes magazine, the number of list members whose wealth declined this year is 85 compared with 314 in 2009, while wealth increased for 217 members, reports Margaret Collins and Alexis Leondis of Bloomberg.
Gates and Buffet have maintained their rank since last year. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, who stands at the 35th rank has witnessed a 245 percent increase in his wealth and his assets are estimated at $6.9 billion. This is the largest increase in growth for anyone on the list. Out of 400 wealthiest people, 83 are from California, 64 are from New York, 45 from Texas and 26 are from Florida.
Joining the list for the first time is Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder of Facebook who left the social networking site in 2008 and has a net worth of $1.4 billion, ranking him at the 290th position. This time there are 42 women in the list. Christy Walton and Alice Walton of Walmart rank at the fourth and eighth position. Jim Walton ranks seventh with $20.1 billion and S. Robson Walton is No. 9 with $19.7 billion.
The other members in the top 10 are Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, is ranked at the third position with $27 billion. Charles Koch, Chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, tied for fifth with his brother David Koch, with $21.5 billion.
