GCI secures $30M, to expand offshore capacity

BANGALORE: New Jersey based IT company Global Consultants, Inc. is looking at growing in India both organically and inorganically through acquisitions, its chief Hiten Patel today said. Speaking to siliconindia, Patel, who was in Bangalore to announce the infusion of $30 million by Oak Investment Partners said after the acquisition of PlanetAsia in end 2004, the company will use the proceeds to significantly expand its existing offshore delivery capacity and service capabilities in India as well as acquire strategic offshore and service-oriented technology companies with specific domain or service expertise in its areas of focus. “We are looking at acquiring about 3 companies in three years operating in Financial, BFSI and MRL space,’ Patel said. GCI is one of the fastest growing providers of end-to-end information technology services and solutions worldwide. The company has grown from just under $4 million in 1996 to $200 million now. This is the first time since inception that the company has taken funds to grow. Patel also said the company plans to increase its employee base from 3,000 to over 8000 over the next three years. More employees will be added in the new centers. “We have a strong bet on India and will hire more here,” said Patel.
