Former Sun VP to head InSilica Inc.

SANTA CLARA: InSilica, a fabless semiconductor company, announced Monday that Anant Agrawal, former head of Sun's Microprocessor group has joined InSilica as it's President and CEO. Anant spent 18 years at Sun where he was vice president and general manager of the microprocessor group. During the first 17 years Anant lead all of Sun's Sparc and UltraSparc microprocessor from inception to market delivery. Anant also managed the embedded boards business, design automation, product engineering and test activities for all of Sun. During his last year at Sun Anant led the networking and security business unit as its Vice President and General Manager. Over the years Anant developed close strategic relationships with companies like Texas Instruments, Fujitsu, Ericsson, Motorola, ST Microelectronics and NEC. InSilica is creating a new model for silicon services. It is a complete solutions company that can engage with customers at any stage of the chip development and deliver packaged fully tested silicon. InSilica has assembled world class experts in the field of microprocessor and RF mixed signal development. InSilica is headquartered in Santa Clara, California USA and is setting up infrastructure for chip design expertise in Bangalore, India. NewPath Ventures LLC led the Series A round with a investment of $10m in InSilica. Anant holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in EE and serves on the board of several high tech companies.
