Drunk man held for raping four-year-old daughter in Delhi

New Delhi: In yet another incident of its kind, a man has been arrested here for raping his four-year-old daughter when he was drunk, the police said Sunday. Salim, 35, who worked at a mutton shop in Ahmedabad, was arrested at their Seemapuri house in northeast Delhi Saturday evening. "He was separated from his wife and four daughters for the past four years and returned to Delhi Saturday after a compromise with his wife," said an investigating officer. "Salim got drunk in the evening and raped his youngest daughter in the absence of his wife. But he was seen by his eight-year-old daughter who informed her mother," the officer added. The victim's mother said her daughter told her about the shameful incident. "I informed the police." The police arrested Salim and the child was taken for medical examination and treatment at the Guru Tegh Bhadaur hospital, where doctors confirmed she was raped. "We have registered a case and Salim has been arrested," said the officer. Last month, Mumbai Police arrested a man for raping his 20-year-old daughter for nine years at the behest of a tantrik to acquire huge wealth.
